Hops, Bian Pin Bad Loss on Beavers
|
The San Diego Hops handed the Portland Beavers a sound defeat, 11-0, at The Brew Stade. An-yi Bian was a main contributor to the win. He was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for San Diego. Ronaldo Teves got the win, improving to 1-1. He held the Beavers to no earned runs on 4 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Even with the win, the Hops have a dismal 14-27 record.
Jejomar Butardo, who is a four-time Gold Glove Award winner, chipped in for San Diego with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
In comments to the San Diego Herald, Butardo admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
