Spartans Prevail, 7-5, Over Biloxi
|
Biloxi got a terrific performance from third baseman John Dyck, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sandy Springs Spartans. Sandy Springs won the The Sand Dune contest, 7-5. Dyck was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. The Spartans bumped their record to 24-24 with this latest triumph.
The Spartans used some clutch hitting to beat the Bullets, a good example being the at-bat of José Hernández in the top of the fourth. With two down, Hernández gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a 2-run single.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Hernández told the Sandy Springs Herald.
