The Boise Hawks topped the Jacksonville Hellcats, 6-2, with youngster Lance Russell playing a key role. Russell was 1-2 with 2 walks for the Hawks in the win. Boise reliever Chuck Easton was the winner. His record is now 1-0. John Tracy took the loss. The Hawks have an impressive 27-17 record.
José Román helped out the Boise cause in the bottom of the fifth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 3 with a walk.
