The Marysville Monarchs topped the Phoenix Lights, 5-1, in Cory Lidle League action at UFO Field. The player of the game was Marysville pitcher and Nuevitas, Cuba native Gabriel Mendoza. Marlon Douglas sewed up the save, his 1st. The Monarchs improve their record to 17-18 with the win over Phoenix.

Jose Rivera helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to give Marysville a 2-0 lead.

In postgame comments to the Marysville Today, Mendoza said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
