Storm Troopers Raise Rally Flag, Beat Topeka, 4-3
|
The Topeka Predators got a sterling performance from left fielder Shoji Ando, but the Storm Troopers still prevailed, 4-3. Ando was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times. Yoshikazu Ichihara closed it out for his 10th save. San Antonio, now 20-11, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Peter Southern, who is tied for 5th in the RHL in home runs with 8, chipped in for San Antonio with a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Topeka skipper Dan Jones, "and it cost us."
