Red Bulls Lose, 7-1, at Basque Block Field
|
Boise beat Riverside on the strength of starter Tommy Brereton's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 7-1 win. Brereton went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 3, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-0. Andy Ryan recorded his 3rd save for Boise.
José Román had a big run-scoring double for the Hawks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Boise leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Héctor Bello and stroked the double to right. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hawks ahead, 2-0.
"I liked his command," said Boise manager Tom Becker. "Tommy was throwing strikes."
The Hawks raised their record to 20-12.
