Monarchs Win at Sandy Springs, 8-2
|
Sandy Springs got a terrific game from first baseman Phil Morgan. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Marysville, 8-2. Morgan was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Marysville reliever Ryan Le Carré got the win, raising his record to 3-2. Shinsuke Suzuki was tagged with the loss. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Monarchs hope to make a postseason run.
The Monarchs got a big at-bat from third baseman Alex Diaz. For the game, Diaz was 1-5 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Marysville a 1-0 lead.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Diaz.
