The Rock River Rats got a superb performance from second baseman Mario Torres, but the Frisco Rams still won the game, 6-4. Torres was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Rams hope to make a postseason run.

Toshio Matsuzaki went 1-3 with a walk for Frisco. The 24-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Pat Beckett. It was his 11th RBI of the season.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Matsuzaki said.
