Victory Over Mustang Takes Boise to 18-11
|
Carson City got a terrific game from designated hitter Pedro Moreno. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Boise, 5-3. Moreno was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Andy Ryan nailed down his 2nd save. Boise, now 18-11, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Boise used the timely hitting of Salvador Cruz to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hawks on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Cruz told the Boise News. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
