Black Bears Win at Youngstown, 4-3
|
In a close game at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum, the Fraser Valley Black Bears edged the Youngstown Tune-Ups, 4-3. Fraser Valley second baseman David Fanelli earned the nod as player of the game. He went 4 for 5 with 4 singles. Fraser Valley, now 19-7, has played well in the early going.
The Black Bears got a big at-bat from right fielder Dave Calderon. For the game, Calderon went 1 for 3. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 39th hit of the season gave Fraser Valley a 4-3 lead.
"Enjoyed this one," Calderon told the Fraser Valley Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
