Stogies Win in Glorious Fashion
|
The Havana Stogies topped the New England Colonials, 5-4, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Humidor. The player of the game was Havana pitcher and Havana, Cuba native Diego Santiago. Havana reliever Felipe Arreola got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Juan Vázquez was tagged with the loss. The Stogies have an impressive 25-9 record.
Havana won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Juan Vázquez on the mound for New England, second baseman John Oakes hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Stogies fans to their feet.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Santiago said in his postgame press conference.
