Late Rally by Islanders Secures Win
|
The Hawaii Islanders racked up a win at Sin City Stadium, bumping off the Las Vegas Aces, 4-2. David Guzman, who started for Hawaii, pitched effectively for his team. Guzman, the winner, moves to 5-0. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up no walks. Bernalldo Rocchi locked down his 9th save.
The Islanders got a big at-bat from right fielder Antonio Roman. For the game, Roman was 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the top of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Hawaii a 4-2 lead.
"David is still learning," said Islanders manager Leland Ray. "The sky's the limit for him."
The Islanders bumped their record to 20-16 with this latest triumph.
