Spartans Need Extra Frames to Get Past Snaps
The inspired effort of Cincinnati third baseman Josh Maillard was not enough to prevent a 6-5 loss to the Sandy Springs Spartans. Maillard was 3-6 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The win was credited to Zane Gunter in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Hideyoshi Kawamura took the loss. Juan Yarrito finished to wrap up his 1st save.

Hirofumi Ishibashi hit a run-scoring triple off Hideyoshi Kawamura in the top of the 17th, which put the Spartans in front, 6-5. Ishibashi had 2 walks, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 6.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Sandy Springs manager José Parra.

The Snaps fall to 11-11 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
