Ducks Lose, 7-4, at Howling Park
|
Wichita and Long Island duked it out at Howling Park and the Wolverines came out victorious.
The Wichita Wolverines topped the Long Island Ducks, 7-4, in Roy Halladay League action at Howling Park. The player of the game was Wichita pitcher Bobby Lloyd. Lloyd went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-0. Hiroo Okimura finished to wrap up his 6th save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fourth, with the game tied, Francisco Enriquez was at the plate when Wichita scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Wolverines to go in front, 5-4.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Enriquez told reporters after the game.
The Ducks fall to 10-11 and continue their wobbly start to the 2034 season.
