Storm Troopers Bridle Bulldogs, 2-1
|
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Tom Burns, the San Antonio Storm Troopers defeated the Spokane Bulldogs, 2-1. Burns went 1 for 1 with a home run and 3 walks, while scoring 2 runs for the Storm Troopers. Dale Martin, credited with the win, is now 1-1. He allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 5.1 innings. Yoshikazu Ichihara locked down his 7th save.
Yan Rossi drew 1 walk in 4 trips to the plate for San Antonio. The 28-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring walk off Tomas Romirez. It was his 9th walk of the season.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Spokane manager Chris Carpenter said following the tough loss.
San Antonio, now 12-6, has played well in the early going.
