Tune-Ups Beat Visiting Lights, 9-6
|
Youngstown starter Katsutaro Nishikawa had a strong outing against the Phoenix Lights at Joey Naples Memorial Colloseum. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 9-6 win. The Lights fall to 8-9 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
Guo-ning Siu, who is tied for 7th in the CLL in bases on balls with 15, aided the Youngstown cause with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the shortstop went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Siu told the Youngstown News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
