Getting an impressive start from Jeff Stephens, Rock River beat DeKalb by the score of 5-2. The save went to Steve Cherry, his 5th this season. The win brings the Rats to 9-6, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The Rats got a big at-bat from center fielder Allan Nugent. For the game, Nugent was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Rock River a 3-2 lead.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Nugent.
