Tight Tilt Goes to Lights, 3-2
|
Phoenix played host to Ruidoso at the friendly confines of UFO Field.
In a low-scoring tilt between the Phoenix Lights and the Ruidoso Osos, Takehide Sato was the difference-maker. The Phoenix right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Phoenix reliever Devon Labonte picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ryan Wise shouldered the loss. Brian Mullins earned the save for Phoenix, his 3rd of the year.
Had Ricardo Rivadeneyra not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Rivadeneyra hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Lights.
"We put together a nice win," Sato said.
The Osos fall to 5-10 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
