Youngstown got a terrific game from catcher Ken Boyer. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Riverside, 4-3. Boyer was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs. The Tune-Ups fall to 6-8 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
Bill Kehoe's at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning was a big one for Riverside. Coming to bat with two out, runners on 2nd and 3rd and Riverside leading 3-2, the pinch hitter reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Kehoe said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
