DeKalb second baseman Francis Barlow was instrumental in his team's 4-2 win over the Rock River Rats. Barlow went 2-3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cornhuskers. Chris Sanchez got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Rats to 1 earned run on 5 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. With the win, DeKalb is 5-7.
Barlow contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for DeKalb in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Barlow took a fastball from Clement Bowden and stroked the home run to right-center. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Cornhuskers to leap in front, 3-2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said DeKalb manager Eduardo Varerla.
