Larry Alberg did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the DeKalb Cornhuskers from losing, 7-5, to the Spokane Bulldogs at The Kennel. Alberg was 2 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Spokane, now 3-7, is off to a slow start.

Spokane took a 6-5 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, right fielder Matt Tullos hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.

"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Bulldogs manager Chris Carpenter. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
