The Riverside Red Bulls got a stellar effort from pitcher Masayoshi Tanaka, helping Riverside score a 3-2 win over the visiting Boise Hawks. Tyler Ambroziak, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. Riverside, now 4-1, has gotten their season off to a good start.
Jim Kempenaars aided the Riverside cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 3.
"If we keep winning the close games," Tanaka said, "we'll be in good shape at the end."
