Sasquatch Sneak Past Republic, 8-7
|
For the home crowd, it was a thrilling walk-off win.
So Cal got a terrific performance from pitcher Tony Bacon, but it wasn't enough to beat the Seattle Sasquatch. Seattle won the Sick's Stadium contest, 8-7. Bacon was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He came in in relief and pitched to 16 batters . Seattle reliever Hisataro Sato picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Lloyd Hunt took the loss.
The Sasquatch got a big at-bat from first baseman Floyd McAuley. For the game, McAuley was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. In the bottom of the tenth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 7th hit of the season gave Seattle a 8-7 lead.
"This place was electric at the end," McAuley said.
The win puts the Sasquatch at 16-17, while the Republic drop to 20-13.
