Bulldogs Continue Skid Thanks to Calderon, Black Bears
|
The Fraser Valley Black Bears defeated the Spokane Bulldogs, 8-6, at The Kennel today. Leading the charge for Fraser Valley was center fielder Dave Calderon. He went 4-5 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Nobutoshi Katayama, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save. The Black Bears, now 3-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Calderon had a game-changing single in the top of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Danny Stewart, he banged a 2-run single to right, giving the Black Bears a 7-6 lead. It was the 7th hit of the year for Calderon.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Calderon told the Fraser Valley Daily News.
