Islanders Turn Back Santa Fe, 3-2
|
The Hawaii Islanders and Santa Fe Fuego played an exciting game at Aloha Stadium.
Santa Fe got a terrific performance from pitcher Oliver Romero, but it wasn't enough to beat the Hawaii Islanders. Hawaii won the Aloha Stadium contest, 3-2. Romero was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 7 innings allowing 3 runs. The 4th-place Fuego have lost 8 consecutive games.
The Islanders got a big at-bat from third baseman Jim Burry. For the game, Burry was 1-3 with a home run and a walk. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Hawaii a 3-2 lead.
Burry said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
