Lake Monsters Hope Opening Day Win Bodes Well for Season
|
The Okanagan Lake Monsters satisfied the home crowd at Elks Stadium, treating them to a season-opening win, 5-2, over the Charleston Panthers. Starting Pitcher Tony Salas was named player of the game for Okanagan. The winning pitcher was Salas, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 6. Victor Castillo recorded the save for Okanagan, his 1st of the season.
Okanagan shortstop Kunihiko Kinoshita contributed to the cause with a single in the bottom of the third. For the game, Kinoshita was 3 for 4 with 3 singles.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Salas. "Successful pitchers do it."
