Cats Win at Coronado, 6-3
|
Fort Worth left fielder Pat Yelland made his presence felt in the 6-3 Cats triumph over the Coronado Phantoms. Yelland went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Hulusi Mumcu earned his 9th save in 10 chances. The first-place Cats, at 90-71, now lead their division by 2 games.
Fort Worth grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Yelland, who is tied for 4th in the NAL with a .400 on-base percentage, hit a 3-run home run. His 13th home run of the season put the Cats out in front, 3-0.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Fort Worth manager Walt Dobson.
