Bombers Bang Out 7-5 Win Versus Astoria
The Astoria Argonauts got a superb performance from catcher Yaichiro Yokoyama. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Bronx. The Bombers won the game, 7-5. In spite of the loss, Yokoyama was named the player of the game. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Maurice Oakley got the win, improving to 4-14. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 3. Bronx now sits in last place in the Darryl Kile League Cito Gaston League at 61-98.

The Bombers got a big at-bat from right fielder Curtis Downing. For the game, Downing went 1 for 4. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 150th hit of the season gave Bronx a 1-0 lead.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Downing.
