Bomberos Bang Out 8-4 Win Versus Silver Lake
|
The Espanola Bomberos beat the Silver Lake Baristas, 8-4, at Casa de Fuego. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Françisco Gazo, who captured player of the game honors. He was 1 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Espanola goes to 78-80, Silver Lake to 75-83.
Gazo contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Espanola in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 4-3, Gazo took a splitter from Mike Wolcott and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Bomberos to leap in front, 6-4.
"You come to the ballpark to do your job and that's what I did today," Gazo told the Espanola Daily News.
