The Astoria Argonauts did just enough to sneak past the Bronx Bombers, 9-8, at Bronx Ballpark. Astoria first baseman Edmund McDonald earned player of the game honors. Jalen Mitchelle got the save, his 9th in 13 chances. The Argonauts bumped their record to 86-72 with this latest triumph.

Satomi Takano aided the Astoria cause with a 2-run double in the top of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 5 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said McDonald.
