Fireballs Come Up Short at Omaha
|
The Omaha Raptors did just enough to secure a 6-5 victory over the Joplin Fireballs at Anchorage Municipal Stadium. Nobody did more than pitcher Shu-yaan Qi, who captured player of the game honors. Qi went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 7-17. At 56-99, the Raptors are currently last in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.
Stanley Harvey had a big 2-run single for the Raptors in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Omaha leading 4-3 and the bases loaded, he got a cutter from José Santos and stroked the single to center. It was his 145th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Raptors ahead, 6-3.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Harvey said after the game.
