Caterpillars Bang Out 9-5 Win Versus Billings
|
Billings got a terrific performance from shortstop Dong-woo Lee, but it wasn't enough to beat the Peoria Caterpillars. Peoria won the Excavatar Park contest, 9-5. Lee was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Brian Lapointe, credited with the win, is now 4-1. He allowed 2 runs on 4 hits in 1.2 innings. Peoria is 70-83 and Billings, with the loss, 90-62.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with Peoria trailing 5-4, Yoshida Nakai was at the plate when Peoria scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Caterpillars to go in front, 6-5.
"It was a solid team effort," said Nakai after the game.
