Tight Tilt Goes to Cats, 4-3
|
The Fort Worth Cats defeated the Vancouver Canadians, 4-3, at LaGrave Field today. Leading the charge for Fort Worth was center fielder Don Bungay. He was 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Fort Worth reliever Shih-k'ai Mi was credited with the win, to go to 6-3. Javier Ballina took the loss for Vancouver. Hulusi Mumcu was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 6 of 7 save opportunities.
Bungay contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Fort Worth in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Bungay took a curveball from Javier Ballina and stroked the double to right. His 6th double of the season allowed the Cats to leap in front, 3-2.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Bungay said.
The Cats, at 84-68, lead by one game in their division.
