Al Bates pitched well, but his team, the Joplin Fireballs, still dropped a 2-1 decision to the Pasadena Bumblebees at The Firepit. Travis Gibson got credit for the win, improving to 4-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Vince Johnson got the save, his 15th in 21 chances.
