Dallas got a terrific performance from shortstop Wen Wei, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Diego Hops. San Diego won the Metroplex Park contest, 6-5. Wei was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times. Even with the win, the Hops have a dismal 11-22 record.
The Hops got a big at-bat from left fielder Robbie Colwill. For the game, Colwill was 1-3 with a triple and was hit by a pitch. In the top of the seventh, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring triple. His 2nd triple of the season gave San Diego a 6-5 lead.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Colwill said.
