Mustangs Drop Argonauts with Late Score
|
Billings and Astoria duked it out at Cobb Field and the Mustangs came out victorious.
Billings overcame a superlative game from Ronald Lee to beat Astoria, 4-3. The Astoria pitcher took player of the game honors in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. Luis Sánchez earned the win for Billings. He lasted 8.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 11-12.
The Mustangs got a big at-bat from first baseman Terry Simmon. For the game, Simmon went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 116th hit of the season gave Billings a 4-2 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Simmon told the Billings Herald.
The Mustangs bumped their record to 87-60 with this latest triumph.
