In a low-scoring tilt between the Joplin Fireballs and the Reno Rockets, Jacob Willard was the difference-maker. The Joplin right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. The Fireballs bumped their record to 82-61 with this latest triumph.

Had Kenny Butler not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Butler hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Fireballs.

After the game, Joplin manager Chance Jackson applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
