Late Rally by Freeze Seals 5th Straight Win
|
The Bowling Green Racers got a superb performance from pitcher David Guzman, but the Minneapolis Freeze still won the game, 3-1. Guzman was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. Hugo Torres, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held the Racers to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 8. Alex Alvarez converted his 10th save in 11 tries.
Had Sean Hutchinson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hutchinson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Freeze.
"This team is real focused right now," said Minneapolis manager John Justin.
Minneapolis has now won 5 straight.
