Coal Miners Jolt Canadians with Late Rally
|
The Vancouver Canadians got a superb performance from pitcher José Garza, but the Antioch Coal Miners still won the game, 4-2. Garza was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Antioch has now won 4 straight.
Had John Johnson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Johnson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Coal Miners.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Johnson. "And not try to do too much."
