Bombers Turn Back Espanola, 5-3
|
Espanola center fielder Françisco Gazo was sensational. He went 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Bronx beat the Bomberos, 5-3. Gazo was named the player of the game despite the loss. Espanola's current losing streak is now 6 games.
Curtis Downing, who is tied for 10th in the DKL with a .536 slugging percentage, aided the Bronx cause with a 2-run triple in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder was 1-4 with a triple, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
"I felt good up there," said Downing. "I saw the ball well."
