The Fairfield Flash faced a tough opponent in Joplin pitcher Al Bates, but did just enough to pull out the victory at The Firepit by a final score of 4-2. Bates went 9 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Royce Leveque converted his 5th save in 8 tries. Fairfield now has a 3-game win streak.

It could have been a different outcome for Fairfield, had it not been for Ian Cutter, the 23-year old shortstop . Cutter contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put Fairfield up, 4-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Cutter said.
