With first baseman Eric Daniels leading the charge, the Peoria Caterpillars defeated the Omaha Raptors, 7-5, at Excavatar Park. Daniels was 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Peoria reliever Luis Domínguez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-2. Edmundo Luas took the loss. Carlos Alonzo was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 6 save opportunities.
Had David Giese not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Giese hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 7-5, in favor of the Caterpillars.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Daniels, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The last-place Raptors have dropped 5 straight games.
