Hornets Prevail, 3-1, Over Rubber City
|
Eureka left-hander Danny Zomosa pitched his team to victory over the Rubber City Rhinos at The Nest. The final score was 3-1. Zomosa, now 2-2, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. The Rhinos fall to 13-18 and continue their uneven start to the 2034 season.
The Hornets got a big at-bat from shortstop Roberto Santiso. For the game, Santiso was 2-4 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 44th hit of the season gave Eureka a 1-0 lead.
In comments to the Eureka Today, Zomosa admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."
