Loss to Toreros Extends New England Losing Streak
|
The Cabo San Lucas Toreros bested the New England Colonials, 4-3, at Field de Los Layendas. Gart Rook was named player of the game. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Masazumi Ohayashi picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 3 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-4. The Colonials fall to 11-18 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2034 season.
Rook contributed a big hit, a 2-run double, for Cabo San Lucas in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-1, Rook took a changeup from Juan Martínez and stroked the double to right. His 5th double of the season allowed the Toreros to leap in front, 3-2.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said New England manager Todd Belcher. "But we decided not to take it."
