The Calgary Kodiaks got a sterling performance from pitcher Reggie Casteel, but the Bombers still prevailed, 3-2. Casteel was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 5 innings allowing 1 run. Bronx reliever Carl Tyler was credited with the win, to go to 5-2. Munemori Abe took the loss for Calgary. Bartolo Alicpa converted his 10th save in 12 tries.

Had Henry Amesbury not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Amesbury hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Bombers.

"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Bronx skipper Carl Smith.

Calgary has now lost 5 straight.
