Raiders Jolt Raptors with Late Rally
The Reno Raiders topped the Omaha Raptors, 5-3, with left fielder Vicente Maldanoda playing a big role. Maldanoda went 4 for 4 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk for the Raiders in the win. Reno reliever José López was credited with the win, to go to 2-2. Jason Engel took the loss for Omaha. The Raiders, at 53-66, sit in 4th place in the Darryl Kile League Joe Torre Division.

The Raiders got a big at-bat from pinch hitter Gary Carter. For the game, Carter was 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the ninth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 15th home run of the season gave Reno a 5-3 lead.

"We played hard and won," said Maldanoda. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
