Canton got a terrific performance from right fielder Ty Bedford, but it wasn't enough to beat the Coronado Phantoms. Coronado won the Phantoms Field contest, 4-3. Bedford was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Coronado reliever Louie Conner, now 1-2. The loser was Keisaburo Kanada. Taylor Longbottom got the save, his 14th in 16 chances.
Jason Trude aided the Coronado cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1-1.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Canton manager Omar Arteaga.
The Phantoms bumped their record to 62-56 with this latest triumph.
