The Detroit Death Stars grabbed a 8-6 win over the Pasadena Bumblebees at The Hole. Detroit shortstop Mario Tovar went 2 for 5 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 to earn player of the game honors. The Death Stars bumped their record to 64-54 with this latest triumph.

The Death Stars got a big at-bat from third baseman Raúl Fernández. For the game, Fernández was 1-4. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 51st hit of the season gave Detroit a 6-5 lead.

"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Fernández told a Detroit Chronicle reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
