Fort Worth and Chicago duked it out at The War Dome and the Cats came out victorious.

Fort Worth starter Mark Edwards put a stranglehold on the Chicago offense. The left-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Cats to a 3-1 win. In 5.2 innings, Edwards surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Everton Mailes converted his 25th save in 28 tries.

Carlos Torres aided the Fort Worth cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, the first baseman went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Edwards said.

The Cats, at 62-49, have now won 5 straight.
