Argonauts Bang Out 8-2 Win Versus Detroit
|
Astoria and Detroit met at The Death Star in front of a lively crowd.
The Astoria Argonauts topped the Detroit Death Stars by the score of 8-2, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Pablo Sosa. Sosa was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Argonauts on the day. Iestyn Cozens converted his 3rd save in 3 tries.
Sosa contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Astoria in the top of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Sosa took a changeup from Andres Perez and stroked the home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Argonauts to leap in front, 4-2.
"We had a nice day," said Astoria skipper Bernard Jacq.
The Argonauts bumped their record to 58-47 with this latest triumph.
